Welcome to the latest Doughnut Research-for-Action seminar, entitled Assessing political programs with AI in Nuremberg (Germany), with Alan Fortuny Sicart, convened by Doughnut Economics Action Lab.
📅 Thursday, December 11, 1:00-2:00 PM (UK time)
Session Summary
In this seminar, Alan will introduce how they are introducing the Doughnut framework in Nuremberg, and their next steps to embed it into city planning and ecosocial transformations. He will describe their technical approach to assessing political programs in Nuremberg using large language models (LLMs), and how this method could be scaled to other cities and policy levels. There will be space for feedback, ideas, and any other potential use cases or issues that participants can see.
Speaker Bio
Alan Fortuny Sicart is a data scientist at leonardo.impact, measuring the social and environmental impact of mission-driven projects, and co-founder of Die Welt Reparieren Kollektiv. He holds master’s degrees in quantitative economics and in degrowth and political ecology. Alan has written about implementing ecosocialism and support movements as a research activist, from energy transitions in Catalonia to media coverage of the Palestinian struggle in Germany. He sees the Doughnut Economics framework as a powerful entry point for introducing democratic planning structures, and educating decision makers and communities to build regenerative and redistributive networks.
