Doughnut Economics in Cornwall: What Next? (Draft)

Join our 2024 Global Donut Days, celebrating and learning together about the latest developments in Doughnut Economics

After hosting the first ever Global Donut Day in 2023, we are back with two days of activity for 2024.

Thursday 7 November - The Launchpad, Penryn Campus, 10am-4pm

The first day will feature an exploration into applying Doughnut Economics in practice, including:

  • Case studies and examples from Cornwall and beyond
  • A new framework of risk and resilience to help engage colleagues and decision-makers
  • Peer-support and troubleshooting

Friday 8 November - The Cornish Bank, Falmouth, 12-4pm

Day 2 will focus on housing, and how Doughnut Economics can help us frame the issue in a more just, holistic, and transformative way, including:

  • Understanding AL1, Cornwall Council's planning policy covering sustainable developments and lifestyles
  • Unpacking the Doughnut for Urban Development, an open-source project to apply Doughnut Economics to a complex sector
  • Telling new stories about housing in Cornwall

All the sessions are free, and each day will begin with an introduction to Doughnut Economics for those who are coming to the idea for the first time, or would like a refresher.

A vegetarian and vegan lunch will also be available on both days.

These events are organised in collaboration between the University of Exeter, Falmouth University, and the Doughnut Economics Action Lab, and funded by the ESRC Festival of Social Science.
