Thriving Together: A Community Weaving Project
A community weaving project, part of the West Cork Feel Good Festival, exploring how people and place can flourish.

Thriving Together: A Community Weaving Project
This project brings people together through the art of weaving to explore what a sustainable future may look like for the people of West Cork. Through teaching the craft of weaving, participants will connect to community and place through using various reused and repurposed materials (contributed by participants themselves). As people weave side by side, they will learn new skills, share stories and imagine what might contribute to a more sustainable and resilient economic future.
The project unfolds across four events:
- Workshop 1: 2-5 pm 11 October – Bere Island (Bere Island Community Centre)
- Workshop 2: 5-8 pm 17 October – Sherkin Island (Sherkin Island Community Hall)
- Workshop 3: 11-2 pm 18 October - Uillinn: West Cork Arts Centre in Skibbereen. Followed by a final presentation 2-3.30 pm where the communal artwork created during the workshops will be shared.
The workshops and final presentation are facilitated by artist and creative facilitator Lucy Hyland, in collaboration with 49 North Street, a creative mental health space exploring new approaches through doughnut economics.
Everyone is welcome to join in person. A flyer with full details is available.
The events are open to island communities, the people of Skibbereen, and anyone curious about doughnut economics and creative, sustainable ways of living.
