When Preston Meets the Doughnut (Past)

Exploring connections between community wealth building, human and planetary thriving, and place-based climate action.

Organised by UCLan’s Institute of Citizenship, Society & Change, this webinar will explore the connections between democratic community wealth building, the economics of human and planetary thriving, and place-based climate action. It will contribute to a project funded by the ESRC Place-Based Climate Action Network, 'Integrating climate resilience and social justice into a framework  for recovery in Preston after Covid-19', part of which is focusing on how the Preston Model relates to Doughnut Economics.

While targeted primarily at stakeholders and citizens in Preston, the webinar - scheduled for 15:30-17:30 on Thursday 4th February 2021 - is open to anyone interested! Places can be booked via Eventbrite.

The speakers, who will also engage in a facilitated conversation, are:

Kate Raworth: Author of Doughnut Economics: seven ways to think like a 21st century economist; co-founder of Doughnut Economics Action Lab; and senior research associate at the Environmental Change Institute, University of Oxford.

Cllr. Matthew Brown: Leader of Preston Council and a driving force behind the transformative Preston Model,an economic strategy that presents a comprehensive, interlinked approach to community wealth building.

Prof. John Barry: Professor of Green Political Economy, Queen’s University, Belfast; Place-based Climate Action Network investigator; Co-Chair of the Belfast Climate Commission.

¿El termino "creación de riqueza comunitaria democrática" supongo que incluye la actividad conjunta y complementaria -dentro de un libre mercado - de empresas publicas y privadas ? Podrian aclararme esto?
