Holding 2 university degrees in design and engineering my motivation since then is to create balance between nature and technology. The technology itself is neutral, it's the approach of humans can be used in a healing or destroying way. Nature stands for its own while humans try to "escape" into an artificial environment for various reasons. Studying kybernetics intensively and knowing about feedback effects that occur within every system my understanding right now is that there exist no action that doesn't cause a reaction later on. Hi Hi I am nearly 70 years old. In my youth I studied for a degree and Masters degree in Economics and an MBA in Finance but was never convinced by economic theory. It seemed to me just a licence for greed. I spent my working life as a lecturer and manager in the Further Education sector. In later life I became interested in Ayurveda (the traditional medicine system of India) and studied for, and completed a degree in Ayurveda in London. I have been part of a spiritual community called Ridhwan for the last 10 or more years, am a supporter of extinction rebellion and have been very impacted by the work of Jem Bendell on Deep Adaptation. I am now retired and spend lots of time in my garden but am also a trustee of a spiritual site in Glastonbury England, a Director of a spiritually focused organisation, and a Director of an eco focused organisation. I am married with three daughters and two grand daughters and am very concerned about their future.

My family and I have just moved to Portugal permanently and I'm learning the language properly (albeit without much practice yet due to covid!). I continue to volunteer for several organisations in the UK, all of which I've been part of for many years - The National Federation of Parks and Green Spaces, Green Tides (the Adur and Worthing green spaces partnership) and Worthing Climate Action Network. Over the years, I've been campaigning, marching and coordinating action to halt the loss of our living world and the climate emergency. As we settle into our new life, with a travelling forest soon (hopefully) to be released back into the wild, I'm looking to learn about the environmental and sustainability movement in Portugal and what local factors influence decision-makers and create change.
