Lígia Fernandes
Lisbon, Portugal
Lígia Fernandes is a Portuguese visual artist and curator based in Portugal, focused on the intersection between visual arts, socially engaged art and community economies. In her work she uses drawing and painting as tools to explore cultural universes, ethnographies and identities, and organizing as a means to create space for sharing, collaboration and creation. Her practice is often the result of site-specific research and aims to address the connection with its collective identity. There is, in all her work, a permanent awareness of a Portuguese point of view. Currently she is interested in the role of love in relational art and community economies. She holds and MA in Painting and BA in Drawing from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon, and also a BS and MS in Economics from UCP-FCEE. She has been dedicated to drawing and painting since 2014, having participated in several exhibitions, residencies and exchange programs in Portugal, Hungary, Montenegro, Latvia and Estonia. Since 2020 she also co-created several ongoing art and community projects such as Panorama, Lisbon Drawing Club, Artists Anonymous, Art&Craft Refúgio and Mais Uno +1. Currently, she is enrolled in the master’s “Commissioning and Curating Contemporary Public Art” at HDK-Valand, Academy of Art and Design at University of Gothenburg.

I read Doughnut Economics and was blown away. Now I'm looking to play my part in developing routes through our global crisis. Have been a campaigner, journalist, specialist fitness trainer, and currently a piano tuner. Long-term self-employed, winding own but desperate to pick up this urgent challenge and do whatever I can, however menial

I am a Professional Dialogue practitioner. My work addresses the counterproductive or destructive behaviour that results from people thinking about themselves as separate from others around them, replacing this with decision-making that takes others into account. For more than 20 years I've run a small consultancy working with organisations to enable them to become effective, healthy, and generative places to work. This looks like, for example, sustainable change to culture, addressing systemic bullying, union-management conflict, raising the voice of ethics professionals in a business, improving the way organisations work together for mutual benefit along a value chain or for the benefit of their shared clients in a social system, breaking down departmental silos, coaching people to be better leaders, etc, etc. I help structures to work as living systems. My work sustains change because it changes the way people think and creates a common understanding that enables decisions to be made for the benefit of everyone. Without changing the way people think solutions are temporary fixes only to be monitored and enforced. I am a founder and Director of Dialogue Associates dialogue-associates.com established in 2003 and founder and trustee of the Academy of Professional Dialogue aofpd.org. I am also chair of the governing board of a large secondary school. My clients have included commercial, public sector, and non-governmental organisations across a range of sectors, from energy and finance to public audit and prisons, and multi-stakeholder systems in, for example, criminal justice and migration and development. I have created a practice model and a curriculum for Professional Dialogue practitioners that helps to sustain Dialogue in a system and run educational programmes. I am looking for opportunities to bring this radical approach to help communities to thrive.

I'm a 50-something doughtnut (economics) lover with a passion for our planet and deep-seated exasperation with the slow speed of change in my country and globally. It's blindingly obvious to me that in everything we do, we have to start with the earth first. I'm reading Kate's book right now, and wondering what I can do to move these ideas forward. My MP appears to be about as useful as a chocolate teapot. I'm interested in perhaps trying to apply doughnut economics in a local way to start with.

I own a small real estate brokerage in a poor, rural area in Colorado. We are car-dependent, and dependent on money from people who move here from rural areas. Ours is a construction economy, with some limited tourism, and agriculture (mostly corporate) supports the wider region. I am interested in understanding DE as it applies to change in small geographically disparate rural areas. I am also interested in creating a new DE ethos that rethinks the future of home construction, home ownership and the sales/service profession of real estate. #housing #realestate

Hello I'm Rob and I've worked in the world of social business and social innovation for most of my working life - getting on for 25 years now. I started out working for a fairtrade cooperative in Leeds and then I worked for a few different organisations, supporting people to set up and run social enterprises. In 2010 I co-founded a social enterprise which aims to develop creative, collaborative solutions to complex problems. We set up various projects including Empty Homes Doctor and Zero Waste Leeds. I left SBB in May 2023 and I am currently exploring what to focus on next. I'm a big fan of Doughnut Economics - I loved the book and I really like the focus on both the social and the environmental - you can't focus on one without thinking about the other. I'm interested too in the circular economy - and more than anything I want to continue to explore ways we can respond to the #climateemergency. I write here on Substack and have written here about Doughnut Economics.

Part of Community Hub Suffolk (CHIp) a cic set up to occupy empty spaces in Ipswich and makes them available to the community in various different ways. As places for creatives to make, display and sell what they create, places for people to meet up and run FREE meetups; such as film club, drumming circle, mending circle, artist morning, musicians meet up, writers group, games sessions, knowledge exchange; a space to run early evening music and spoken word events, and private hires and much more. As part of the advisory group for CHIp I have taken on the role of expanding to include a tool library and am looking for advice from groups that have already got one up and running.
