Inner Development Goals (IDGs) with a Nature Lens from Lincoln IDG Hub (Past)
An introduction to the IDGs and potential community of practice for Doughnut Economics
Posted by Climate Hope Lincoln
Please Note: This event has now finished and can no longer be joined.
On Wednesday 21st October at 10am (11am CET) join us to learn more about the Inner Development Goals (IDGs) approach - inner development for outer societal change, and the opportunities this can unfold within a framework for a circular economy proposed by Doughnut Economics.
The IDG Hub intends to hold space again in November for those who are interested in exploring this forward and co-creating a ‘community of practice’ within this shared space in between Doughnut Economics and the IDGs.
The IDGs offer an invitation for inner work required for outer change. They are intended as a framework to assist us in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and bringing everyone ‘globally’ inside the Doughnut.
We are excited to announce that Johan Holm will be joining this online event. Johan serves as the Business Coalition Coordinator and lead for leadership and partner care for the Inner Development Goals (IDG) initiative.
The event will be a fusion of shared stories to help bring the IDGs alive in our daily life, and interactive discussions that will inspire more conversations and potential collaborations.
In November 2025 the Transition Working Group (TWG) began a journey to help facilitate a process of decentralising the IDGs from an established model of business to becoming a self-organising system. The TWG is a global group of volunteers embracing the IDGs together, as they move forward sensing, cocreating and exploring a different model.
Debbie has been a member of the Doughnut Economics (DE) Grassroots community since Spring 2025, and TWG (Cohort 3) since this Summer. She is not an expert in either but an active participant and observer in both, who can see the potential for a meaningful collaboration between them.
This is the aim of this experiment. To simply hold space, together, for ninety minutes during Global Doughnut Days and explore what could come next? What is waiting to emerge in this ‘Space In Between’ for our regenerative future, and our Collective Wellbeing as Planet and People now?
What can we do together that we cannot do alone?
The aims of this experiment are to
- Raise awareness of the IDGs within the DE space.
- Encourage those who feel drawn to the IDGs to begin embracing them in whatever ways feels right for them.
- Understand the relevance of the IDGs for our regenerative future, and Collective Wellbeing as Planet and People as individuals, groups, teams and organisations.
- Explore the potential for a ‘community of practice’ within this ‘Space in Between’ DE and the IDGs.
- Make the IDGs meaningful in your life and your place, wherever you live in the world.
We will be offering a session in November for those who are interested in developing the idea of a ‘community of practice’ in this ‘Space in Between’ DE and IDGs following on from this event, please get in touch if you’d like to join us but missed this event. You can do this through the Grassroots community or contact Debbie Mace (please use the subject heading TWG experiment).
