About the session
In this opening session of Global Donut Days 2026, the DEAL team will host a conversation that highlights the intersections of Doughnut Economics action, sharing synergies and ‘common threads’ that connect the Doughnut Economics themes being put into practice by the global community.
You’ll hear from each DEAL team member who will explore DE action across each of the 7 themes; share the latest tools available; and surface the questions and tensions most alive to practitioners right now.
During the session there will be space for you to join the conversation, raising questions or highlighting insights from your experiences putting Doughnut Economics into practice in your community, place or sector.
The session will be jointly hosted by:-
- Andrew Fanning, lead for: Research and Academia
- Carolina Escobar-Tello, lead for: Schools and Education
- Ilektra Kouloumpi, lead for: Sectors
- Leonora Grcheva, lead for: Cities and Regions
- Pins Brown, lead for: Business and Enterprise
- Rob Shorter, lead for: Communities and Arts
- Xiaoting Hou-Jones (侯晓婷), lead for: Government and Policy
Join us to explore what’s new across the Doughnut Economics themes you are familiar with, and discover themes you may not be.
Session details may be updated.
Note: This session will include BSL.

I'm Sunkyung HAN, and I'm the co-initiator of Donut-Zip, a group focused on bringing doughnut economics to life in South Korea. Through Donut-Zip, I want to help organizations and communities adopt these principles to drive sustainable change. As the CEO of C., a social innovation catalyst organization, I’ve become passionate about fundamental transformations and have been working to introduce doughnut economics as part of a broader vision for systemic change. With more than 15 years of experience connecting people and organizations in social innovation, I founded C. in 2014 to create sensemaking platforms that link up social innovators across Asia. Beyond C., I’ve been an advisor on social innovation committees with the Seoul Metropolitan Government, a Korean advisor for AVPN, and a board member for YouthVoice, a nonprofit that helps young people express themselves through social media.
