Discussion: WHO IS THE CITY FOR?
Together with our Guests, we’ll explore how to make our cities great places to live – for people, nature, and future generations.
Meeting with our international Partners from MasterPeace and Doughnut Economics Action Lab (DEAL)
DEAL is a global network of innovators, activists, and cities building economies that are socially just and ecologically safe.
For years, we’ve been collaborating with this community, learning and testing tools that help design cities within the Doughnut.
Workshop: “Designing the Doughnut” for Activists
In this practical session, we’ll explore the Doughnut Economics methodology developed by Kate Raworth and her team.
We’ll see how it can be applied in real urban contexts to balance care for people and the planet.
Our guest speakers include:
- Magdalena Milert – architect and urban planner, author of “Who Is the City For?”
- Witold Szwedkowski – social and cultural activist, co-founder and one of Poland’s leaders of Urban Guerrilla Gardening
- Mikołaj Siemaszko – naturalist and science communicator
- Jerzy Granietzny – activist and accessibility expert
- Bob Kamiński – expert in social entrepreneurship
During the event, we’ll refer to key books that have inspired and guided our work with Doughnut Economics:
- “Doughnut Economics” – Kate Raworth
- “Who Is the City For?” – Magdalena Milert
- “A Recipe for a Better Climate” – Szymon Bujalski
- “Obwarzanek po polsku” – a guide to applying Doughnut ideas in the Polish local context
Who is it for?
We invite local governments, NGOs, academics, entrepreneurs, activists, and residents – especially young people.
Our goal is to connect generations and sectors and work together to find solutions to the challenges facing our cities and regions.
Hybrid event – join us on-site or online.
This event is part of the Global Donut Days initiative, organised by Doughnut Economics Action Lab (DEAL).
It’s a unique opportunity to learn, share experiences, and build partnerships for fair, green, and resilient cities – over coffee, tea, and of course, a doughnut.
