Green Cinema: Woman at War

“We have to organize society around the economy—otherwise, everything will grind to a halt.” That’s one of the most persistent myths of recent times.

Join us at this GRØN BIO screening as we debunk this economic myth and host a panel discussion on power and powerlessness.

The movie settinge the scene is the beautiful and entertaining Icelandic feel-good film “Woman at War,” about Halla, an indomitable choir director and music teacher who declares war on the industry and the politicians threatening to destroy her country.

As a prelude to the film, we’ll offer a brief introduction to Doughnut Economics. We also introduce the dilemma / conflict in the movie seen from an economic perspective between growth as a “necessary” tool to keep developing wealth and wellbeing - and the uncomfortable fact that we have exceeded 7 out of 9 planetary boundaries and are in the process of altering the living conditions that we humans have enjoyed on Earth for thousands of years.

After the film, there will be a panel discussion on the experience of power and powerlessness.
