Ancestral Wisdom and Alternative Economies: How can trust, relationships, and community connections become the roots of our economies? Ancestral and Indigenous knowledge are too often viewed as relics of the past, to be memorialized or romanticized. How can we reframe? How can we learn from traditional practices and frameworks and view them as ongoing, contemporary strategies? How and when can cultural wisdom address today’s economic and ecological crises?

Our three incredible guests will discuss these subjects amongst and alongside one another.

We will be warmly welcoming:

  • Celina Valadez, Social Economies Coordinator and ecofeminist + solidarity economies practitioner of multiple decades from Mexico City

  • Brenda França, a leader of the OSP and Pretitude do Cabula in Bahia, Brazil

  • Grassroot Economics local leader from Nairobi, Kenya (tba)

If you:

  • Seek practical knowledge to move beyond the failures of our current economic and social systems
  • Want to spend an hour with people who are dreaming of and building communities of care and resilience
  • Believe in the transformative nature of deep cultural wisdom and cross-border exchange

The guests will be speaking in Spanish, Portuguese and English. Live translation will be available!
