Launching DEAL's new online Doughnut Portrait Visualiser & Data Hub tool, co-created with InceptionU
Please Note: This event has now finished and can no longer be joined.
Welcome to the latest Doughnut Research-for-Action seminar, which will launch Doughnut Economics Action Lab's (DEAL's) new Doughnut Data Portraits: Visualiser & Data Hub tool, co-created with InceptionU, a software-development education organisation.
đź“… Tuesday, February 17, 4:00-5:00 PM (UK time)
Session Summary
This launch webinar will present a new web-based Doughnut Portraits Visualiser & Data Hub tool that allows users to create their own place-based Doughnut diagrams, based on locally relevant, data-led information. The tool also makes visible the indicators and Doughnut diagrams of other public Portrait initiatives on the Hub, and, crucially, encourages users to make their own work visible when ready. Andrew Fanning (DEAL), Greg Hart and Tony Enerson (InceptionU) will share motivations for co-creating the online tool, and demonstrate how to use it. There will be time for comments, suggestions, and feedback – hope to see you there!

I work in financial software development. Agile software development is a haven for the neurodiverse. Finance suits my interests in mathematics and economics, and my need for complex problems to solve. My activist background was in single-issue campaigns in the 1980s-90s that aimed to change public opinion, such as the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament and the Anti-Apartheid Movement. Since then, humanity's primary self-inflicted existential threat moved from nuclear war to the climate emergency. While existential threats are always the priority, I believe that within capitalism all progressive changes are at risk of being rolled back, and lasting change can only be assured within a democratic economy. I'm keen to work with others on new ideas for expanding the democratic economy.
