You are warmly invited to join our policy peer-learning series — a space to connect with fellow Doughnut Economics enthusiasts and explore together how its seven ways of thinking can inform government policies and shape governance systems.

Time: June 4th 11:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. (UK time)

Event overview

Multilateral development banks (MDBs) such as the World Bank, and multilateral climate and development funds such as the Green Climate Fund (GCF), channel hundreds of billions of dollars annually to low- and middle-income economies. Beyond the funding itself, these institutions wield significant influence over recipient countries' policies and government programmes, and hold immense convening power.

Yet there is growing debate about how that power is exercised and a pressing need to reimagine and redesign these institutions' mandates and  operational models to better address our interlinked global ecological and social crises.

In this session, we will explore together the current roles these MDBs and multi-lateral funds play and how they could be reimagined to help accelerate the transition to economies that are regenerative and distributive by design.

The session is co-hosted by Tatiana Kan, Finance and Planning Consultant at GCF , and Xiaoting Hou-Jones, Government & Policy Lead at DEAL. Drawing on her experience working within GCF, Tatiana brings a unique insider perspective to help spark rich conversation.
