Unveiling the California Doughnut Snapshot (Past)

On Global Doughnut Day we reveal our California Doughnut Snapshot, within the framework of Doughnut Economics.

Final details to view the event are private and will be sent along with your ticket purchase.

Join us for an engaging presentation as we reveal our highly anticipated California Doughnut Snapshot, a visual and analytical tool designed to assess California's ecological and social well-being within the framework of Doughnut Economics. California is the 5th largest economy in the world and has the highest relative poverty rate in the United States while being one of the most politically progressive states. This snapshot offers a unique perspective on how California is faring in balancing essential social foundations with the ecological boundaries of our planet. In this presentation, we will begin with opening remarks from special guest - Michael Mezzatesta aka @michael_mezz We will then share the step-by-step process behind the creation of the snapshot, including data collection, stakeholder engagement, and adaptation of Doughnut Economics principles to the specific needs of California. We will also share key insights from the process shedding light on areas where California is excelling, as well as where critical gaps remain and have time for group celebration, discussion, and questions.

Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of: - The methodology used to tailor the Doughnut model to California's unique environmental, economic, and social landscape. - Our major findings and what they reveal about California's progress toward sustainable development. - Lessons learned from our coalition’s collaborative work, and how these learnings can inform policy, business practices, and community action. - Next steps and how California residents, community organizers, policymakers, and government leaders can use our snapshot as a tool for driving transformative change. This session is ideal for policymakers, sustainability advocates, and anyone interested in learning how Doughnut Economics can shape a thriving regenerative future for California.
