Workshop 'Teach 21st econ based on the Doughnut' (Past)

Workshop aimed at economics teachers on the question how to integrate the doughnut in their lessons.

I am sorry to inform you that the workshop on 8 March is full. There will be another opportunity on 25 May. Please consult the event list.

We have set ourselves the challenge to design an economics curriculum on IB level based on the doughnut model. To implement elements of it in current curriculums requires a lot of creativity. That is why we get together with teachers from all over the world to exchange ideas. 
The first opportunity in English is on 8 March from 19.00 - 21.00 (CET). 
Should you want to participate with your department, you can contact us to set a date specifically for you.

    Yesterday, I found out there has been a misunderstanding about the workshop of 8 March, because someone pointed this out to me. In the description of the workshop we informed people to sign up by sending us an email. We were completely unaware of the possibility to join the workshop through the DEAL site. Thus, we missed out on your subscription. The workshop tonight has been fully booked, since some people did find us through email, so we cannot allow for any additional participants - we simply are not equipped for larger groups.However, we want to make this up to you. And not only to you: to ourselves too, because we really feel we are now missing out on some wonderful people whose expertise could help us progress. Therefore we have added two additional dates:

    Monday 22 March from 19.00 - 21.00 CET, and
    Monday 19 April from 19.00 - 21.00 CET

    We set a maximum number of 10 participants, which should not be a problem with the size of the group affected by this misunderstanding.

    Hoping to get some inspiration and ideas that will allow me to incorporate a module / scheme of work on doughnut economics into our KS3 Geography curriculum at an inner London school. Can't wait!

    I am looking forward to this. I teach in a small university in the UK and am hoping to start to influence a change in how economics is taught - there seems to have been little change since I did a module in economics at Oxford 30 years ago. I don't actually teach economics here and so am at the fringes but I am tired of sticking a little bit of environmental on at the edge of the mainstream of what they are taught. Really looking forward to joining you. Polly

    I am interested in integrating this thinking into international development. Certainly bilateral donors will lag far behind in this, as they are obliged to uphold the financial, trade, and manufacturing policies of their governments, But development practitioners, recipients of donor funds, will find a way to integrate these principals where they can in their programming and this will provide more evidence of its effectiveness in different contexts. So, just consider for example co-sponsoring a session for development practitioners with OxFam UK. Thanks much - Andrea Burniske
