I am an advocate of green urbanism. This modern approach to city planning which seeks to integrate ecological design principles with human well-being holds the potential to make sustainable and socially vibrant cities. This type of planning brings together Doughnut principles and can unite environmentalists, community leadership, and businesses through a shared goal of working towards progressive urbanism.
Ultimately, pluralistic cities, based on mixed-use and mixed economies can diminish social problems rooted in xenophobia and 'othering' by encouraging positive community interactions. My research interests are at the intersection of this interdisciplinary field. I work on improving the social interactions and governance problems at the heart of challenges in urban life.
