Keith Melton is currently Chair of the Green Liberal Democrats (GLD) in the UK. GLD is a pressure group and `Think Tank` within the Liberal Democrats and it was established as the Party`s `Environmental Conscience` when the Party was established in 1988. At that time Keith was the Chair of the Liberal Ecology Group within the Liberal Party, one of the two parties that came together to form the Liberal Democrats. He became the Founding Chair of the new group and is happy to have recently been `recycled` as the newly elected Chair in 2020, more than 30 years later!
In between time Keith established the Institute for Sustainable Development in Business at Nottingham Trent University as its Director and ran the Institute until he retired in 2006. Since retiring he has written and published an historical novel about an ancestor who led a rebellion against Henry Vlll in 1536. His ancestor was a shoemaker and the novel is called "Captain Cobbler: the Lincolnshire Uprising 1536".
