Doughnut Economics About DEAL News & Updates Meet the DEAL Team Careers FAQ Wider Movement Contact UsHi everyone, I'm a 33 year old Learning Disabilities nurse who moved to London from the East Midlands to study nursing. I've been working within the NHS since I qualified in 2018 and currently I work for a community learning disabilities healthcare team, although I spent the majority of my time since qualifying, working within Forensic Mental Health in inpatient and community settings.
While I understand working as nurse could seem fairly removed, throughout my training and during practice I've seen how health inequalities as a result of politics and the socio-economic make up of our country, directly effect the most vulnerable people in out community.
Since I've started reading more about Doughnut Economic theory, I've appreciated so much more about the interactions of current economic theory and the state of inequalities in the UK and further abroad; and I want to get more involved in doing something to help change things for the better.
