Almost seventy years on the planet and following a career in surveying and IT, I decided to 'retire' by studying a MSc in Sustainability and Adaptation with the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) rather for the fun of it after a late-in-life first degree in Astronomy. It's proving to be quite a game-changer. I can follow the 'pure' science and see the urgent peril of the Climate Emergency, the social science of behaviour change is proving more of a challenge.
Having little knowledge of economics beyond supply/demand and the mantra of growth I found reading Doughnut Economics, after a visit to Civic Square, quite the eye opener - it may not be perfect, but to me it sounds 'right' (if it looks good, it flies well as they say in the aeronautical world). So here I am, firstly for some understanding to help the dissertation I have to write, and then to use the tools with vague plans to spread the word in my local community. I'm at the start of what looks a fascinating journey.
