I am in the development space. I have been working with communitites for over 10 years. I am currently working for Taking Care of Business( formerly known as The Clothing Bank) TCB. We empower unemployed mothers to run informal trade businesses to eradicate poverty in their lives. We receive donations of clothing from 11 top retialers in South Africa which would otherwiese go into landfills. There are 5 branches nationally. I am the branch manager of the Paarl branch ( Cape Winelands). The Enterprise Development particiapants are given access to stock at low cost, making their business learning practical. They receive business mentoring , are trained on business skills, life skills and receive life coaching over 2 year. The programm is successful in cleaning up waste, whilst empowering humans to be better versions of themselves. Previous to his I was manager of community health care workers in an organisation called Philani. With 250+ community helath care workers , nurses, social auxiliary workers and a nework of social workers: we educated pregnent woman and mothers on how to best care for thier health, for their babies and children to the age of 5. In partnership with social workers we sometimes had to facilitate the removal of children from negligent parents. With the help of the Department of Health we were able to give milk and suppliments to malnaourished children. This is all in the effort to prevent stunting and all lifeling problems caused by malnutrition during infancy and childhood.
