I am a professor and head of the Department of Government at New Mexico State University. My main areas of research concern rural social movements in Mexico, indigenous autonomy and land rights, particularly the Zapatista movement in Chiapas. I also co-direct a summer program for undergraduate researchers on immigration policy and US-Mexico border communities.
