CIVIC SQUARE
Birmingham, England, United Kingdom
Together with many people and partners, we are visioning, building and investing in social and civic infrastructure for neighbourhoods of the future, rooted in the heart of Birmingham; our home city. Through our long-term Neighbourhood Doughnut portfolio of work, we are focused on downscaling and co-creating the Doughnut Economics framework to the neighbourhood scale, inspired by Kate Raworth, the team at DEAL, and communities around the world reimagining regenerative economic systems, that are distributive by design. Join us at the beginnings of a neighbourhood movement, connecting artists, designers, economists, ecologists, gardeners, teachers, neighbours and many more to redesign and get to the heart of new economic possibilities for our neighbourhoods and the movements to craft and build them. Now more than ever it will need all of us; our skills, creativity, wisdom, hopes and imagination, to pave inspiring, collective, regenerative ways forward together.

I've spent the last 25 years helping people from all over the world to learn, grow and transform themselves and their workplaces. With some good friends, I'm now in the process of founding a new digitally-enabled community: Inquire-Evolve-Transform. No matter where we are in the world we can inquire, evolve, and transform ourselves, taking timely action to make our world a better place. Inquire - Evolve - Transform will be a heart-centered, learning community founded in the UK with global reach, built on valuing all creation and living out inquiring, loving action in the world. It will become a community of transformative inquirers, discovering, and expressing our unique reasons for being in the world; making a difference in our homes, local communities, workplaces, and the world we inhabit; playing our part in addressing the challenges of the multiple crises facing humanity; and co-creating a future where all creation can thrive and flourish.

I am a person that loves movement and contributing to improve situations wherever I am. Since 2013 I worked on research, consulting and on the ground projects on waste, sustainability and circularity. I'm intrigued and ready to explore the doughnut's mindset to move towards more holistic and inclusive societies.

I was taught that your legacy is measured by the size of the footprint that you leave behind after you leave this world. I have maintained a commitment to the following statement throughout my personal and business life... "A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove...but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child." In my family and my community I have committed my life to the Platinum Rule... "Do unto others as they would have you do unto them" meaning I have had to listen carefully and act mindfully based on what I hear and see are the needs of others. Help others find whatever they need or want and what you need or want will come.

Multi sectoral Business Consultant and Innovator, developing Hourcoin with the Timecentres team. Being an entrepreneur myself and having studied entrepreneurship, I have designed and trialled new ideas in the charitable sector including the roll out and growth of the first community-to-community timebank globally which engaged thousands of people to become active in their communities and won many awards. I have delivered business support via government funded and charity funded programs that support businesses that are growing fast, that want to take action on climate change, that are striving to improve their business and reach specific goals or diversify. I am an experienced regeneration, social venture and community development specialist. Currently I am rolling out a community currency called Hourcoin based on my work in 2004 to create mutual aid networks that improves community, wellbeing and tackles the social injustices in our economy.

My finest hour is bringing people to places, in their hearts, where, in their minds, they always wanted to be. My greatest inspiration is Pipi Longstocking: “I have never tried that before, so I think I should definitely be able to do that.” Everybody is allowed to experiment. And everybody is allowed to fail. Engage with discomfort and grow. My burning wish is that human modesty takes over from human engineering. That is no lack of ambition. On the contrary, it increases our chances of survival. I believe that we are living through an extraordinary interval in the history of humanity. Growing inequality and the overstepping of planetary boundaries are confronting us with a unique set of challenges. In the next few decades, we have to embrace new mindsets, skills, practices and solutions to push humanity on a more benign path of development. At shiftN, we want to contribute energetically to that more equitable and sustainable future.

Originally from Italy, I have been living in London for about nine years now. I have eclectic working experiences, coming from a line of environmental engineering (wastewater treatment) and inventorship, I studied art and humanities and I am now an artist and a freelance photographer. To bring bread to the table I work in food distribution and in customer oriented environments since I moved to UK, although last year I founded with like-minded people Alberea, a start up and b-corp that aims to plant 15 million trees by 2030, in order to fight desertification in the Mediterranean area while helping other business to move to more sustainable practices and creating a cultural momentum around environmental emergency awareness.

I’m a third-gen Angeleno who was taught surfing from my father at a young age. Perhaps that’s why I have such reverence for the sea. Also love jazz & dogs (especially my 10-year-old boxer pit, Pacino).
