Ellena Damini
Oxford, United Kingdom
Ellena is a Graduate Student in the MSc in Sustainability, Enterprise and the Environment at the University of Oxford. Prior to coming to Oxford, Ellena studied finance at Carleton University (Ottawa, Canada), managing Carleton University’s student investment fund ($2.0M AUM) and spearheading the integration of responsible investing and ESG principles across internal, asset, and portfolio levels. Ellena’s interests include reshaping investment strategies in hard-to-abate sectors and advising on capital deployment to foster sustainable development. Moreover, Ellena is eager to research how impact investing can support the resiliency of Indigenous infrastructure. Ellena is drawn to the DEAL community because she believes in the urgent need to transform our economic systems to prioritize sustainability and social equity. She is passionate about exploring how financial frameworks can align with the principles of Doughnut Economics. Armed with a deep understanding of sustainability dynamics and financial acumen, Ellena plans to inform decision-making, redirect capital, and integrate net-zero into investment strategy. Moreover, she is eager to meaningfully support the resiliency of northern Indigenous populations. As a consulting professional advising clients nationwide, Ellena offers practical experience in the financial industry and a unique perspective into Canada’s economy. Her experience engaging Indigenous stakeholders provides valuable insight in addressing socio-economic challenges through strategy. Furthermore, her track record of research in sustainability as it intersects with enterprise offers a research-oriented perspective. At the crossroads of value and values, Ellena is committed to building a prosperous, equitable, and sustainable future. Joining this community offers an invaluable opportunity to collaborate with like-minded individuals and contribute to innovative solutions that can drive meaningful change in our economic systems, ultimately fostering a more sustainable and equitable future.

Thomas Arnett
Camarillo, California, United States
Thomas Arnett is working to transform industrial-style schooling as a senior research fellow at the Clayton Christensen Institute. He started his career as a teacher in Kansas City, where he experienced firsthand the frustration of working within a one-size-fits-all approach to education that neglects students’ widely-varying academic and emotional needs. He then joined the Christensen Institute after seeing how Clayton Christensen’s work offered not only a new vision for K–12 education but a comprehensive theory for bringing that vision mainstream. Over the last decade, Arnett’s work has expanded on Christensen’s insights by identifying the enabling conditions to disrupt conventional education and the circumstances that motivate education stakeholders to choose new models of schooling.

Hey there, I'm Paula!!! A passionate architect and urbanist originally from Colombia. I've had the chance to live in some amazing places like Madrid, Siena, Rotterdam, and now Oslo. My professional journey? It's all about diving into the cool intersection of urban planning and well-being. I'm on a mission to figure out why we do what we do and how design can make our cities not just functional, but awesome for us and our planet. Always up for learning and keen to contribute to a future where cities are people-friendly and sustainable. I believe design isn't just about making things look good—it's about making life better.
