I graduated from IADE (Visual Arts, Design, and Marketing Institute) with a degree in marketing and advertising, a post-graduate degree participation at ESHTE (Estoril Hotel and Tourism School) with a specialization in the implementation and development of tourism projects. With almost 20 years of experience in the tourism, hospitality, and leisure sectors, I have cultivated extensive expertise in market research, concept development, and marketing strategies tailored to projects at various developmental stages. One of my accomplishments includes the identification and formulation of business plans for the 10 strategic tourism products outlined in the Portuguese Strategic Tourism Plan (PENT). I had the privilege of collaborating with the esteemed ILM/THR team, under the leadership of Eulogio Bordas and Andrew Coutts. Additionally, I have contributed to family-oriented ventures like Casa Dalevada, as well as prominent developments such as Palácio Belmonte and Bairro Belmonte by DaST, Herdade da Comporta, Vale do Lobo, the Touristic Development Plan of Vila Real de Santo António, Lisbon Story Center, Santar Vila Jardim, World of Wine, Côa Park and Portugal dos Pequenitos, among others. My professional drive lies in embracing responsible cultural tourism placemaking projects, where I can leverage my expertise, knowledge, and passion for sustainable tourism development to contribute to their success and differentiation. She holds a Master's degree in Fashion Branding and Design from IADE and UBI, completing her academic journey with the dissertation titled "Sustainable Fashion Communication in Retail: The Role of Ecolabels in Sustainable Fashion Consumption." Since 2021, Mariana has been working as a journalist specializing in  , culture, and global affairs, contributing to prestigious magazines such as Vogue and GQ Portugal. Mariana presented as a speaker at the Fashion & Sustainability conference at Universidade Lusófona in 2022 and the 2023 Sustainability Summit at ISCTE, Portugal. In 2023, Mariana founded Ethica - Sustainable Fashion Hub, a platform dedicated to educating both brands and consumers on . The WorldGBC's health and wellbeing framework includes six principles for cultivating a robust sustainable built environment: undertaking climate action, prioritising comfort, fostering harmony with nature, safeguarding health (including mental well-being), encouraging positive behaviour, and creating social value. I view my role in sustainability as centred on raising awareness and actively advocating for, as well as contributing to, the latter four principles.

I'm a Chartered Organisational Psychologist (AFBPsS) with Pario Surveys, based in the UK. I work with organisations to improve 'people analytics' - with a focus on transparency, equality and accountability.  My new book 'Leadership Principles and Purpose' (Routledge 2024) is tightly referenced and links to 'Doughnut Economics'.  The insights build on psychological research and insights from neuroscience, which expose the limitations of traditional economic theory. Most significantly, the advanced psychological models challenge  neoliberal economists' misplaced notions of 'rational expectations' and 'bounded rationality'.  The book identifies essential elements that underpin motivation and commitment, which are important for the development on economic theory.  It also explores how future-focused leaders overcome the FELT Deficit.
