I live completely off grid in a beautiful remote area at the bottom of Snowdonia National Park. 20 years ago I was a CEO of a public listed company. Since then I have acted as a Mediator and Mentor and worked as a stone sculptor and photographer - more in my LinkedIn. I read E F Schumachers Buddhist Economics in Small is Beautiful in the 1990’s and it has always been one of the most powerful influences on my thinking. However I could not see how leaders in short term democracies in growth orientated economies were going to be able to sell his vision to the voters which was a bit depressing. Then I heard Kate Raworth’s recent interview with Messrs Campbell and Stewart which struck a very large chord! I am so concerned about how unfettered capitalism is causing so much damage for the next generations to deal with but I have felt pretty powerless. Organisations like the DEAL Community give me some hope.

I am here because I want to find ways to bring real sustainability to my community, which I believe will rely on changing how economic structures work. I'd like to connect with a wider community of people working towards sustainable futures around the world to share ideas, support and solidarity!

I came across this site when I read a Guardian article by Hettie O'Brien about Kate Haworth and her Doughnut Economy book. I've seen other articles about circular theories, and this one caught my attention. I am trying to expand my thinking and see how I can make more of a positive impact in my community.

I like people with a free-thinking profile that according to Tolstoy: " They are the people who are willing to use their minds without prejudice and without fear in order to understand things that conflict with their own customs, privileges or beliefs. This mental state is not frequent, but it is essential for correct thinking, which in case if absent, the discussion tends to be worse than useless.
