I'm an IT product (& project) manager working at a national nonprofit based in Washington, DC. Inspired after picking up Kate Raworth's book. I'd love to find a group of like-minded folks and make a commitment to finding local solutions (as building blocks to larger-scale problem solving) to help build a more sustainable future for our communities and planet.

Shiva Noori is a Ph.D. researcher in the Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management, Delft University of Technology. In her Ph.D., Shiva aims to help sustainable industrial development in emerging economies by implementing industrial symbiosis and improving circularity in industrial clusters. To understand the emergent behaviour of clusters under different technical and institutional conditions, she integrates engineering knowledge and tools (e.g. mass and energy balance, multi-criteria decision making, Mixed Integer linear programming, process economics, sustainability assessment) with social science practices (e.g. interview and questioner, case studies, institutional analysis). Her research interests include comprehensive design, socio-technical systems modeling, and inclusive circular economy. She also has 10+ years of experience as a project coordinator and engineering manager in turnkey projects.

I was introduced to Kate Raworth through the David McWilliams podcast and through this I came to learn about Doughnut economics. I find the concept fascinating and liberating. To me it represents moving away from the old unsustainable way of doing things towards a new more progressive, transparent, diverse and equal economic society. I'd like to be part of this exciting new movement and that's why I chose to become a member of DEAL.
