I am the coordinator and one of the two founder members of a small group seeking regional autonomy for where we lived, called Democratic Yorkshire. For me, Democratic Yorkshire is a spiritual journey as much as anything else. An inclusive society and the move towards an ecological civilisation are just as important as creating a vibrant, participative democracy. The three go hand in hand. Switching to a model of 'Doughnut Economics' is essential to the regions future and to providing hope to our children and future generations of Yorkshire girls and boys. At 70 years of age, it is their future that really matters. www.democraticyorkshire.co.uk

I am 53, recently retired. I was a secondary MFL and mindfulness teacher, mother of 3. I am interested in the concept of doughnut economics as I am really concerned by the effects of Climate change and I have lost faith in our current economic system based on consumption and growth. We need to realize that bigger, better and more can't go on forever.

I was really fascinated and won over by the concepts in Kate Raworth's brilliant book, and it brought me here. I'm keen to learn more and to understand how I might be able to help move us in a more sustainable direction. I live in Nottingham, work in London a couple of days a week as a Business Agility Lead. Interested in local and virtual events, and any materials, concepts, and providers which will help me to make changes to my own lifestyle or to positively influence that of others.

Hello, I'm Francine, I like to think of myself as a circular thinker. This mindset has brought me curiosity and encouraged me to question conventional thinking. My eagerness for knowledge has provided me with opportunities to challenge the conventional linear patterns we often follow as a society. Doughnut Economics book was one of those wake-up calls. As an expert in sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) strategies, I co-founded Conexus.Earth in Australia, a consultancy that guides businesses to track their sustainability/ESG commitments with powerful methodologies and tools to build the journey to make actions. I strongly believe that when we align methodologies and tools, we have the power to transform ideas into impactful actions. It's about picking up a pencil and drafting out fresh insights, connecting all the dots across environmental, social, and governance aspects in a collaborative way. The Doughnut Economics methodology can unleash our collective potential and create magic. Join the DEAL community brings to me the gift of connecting with like-minded individuals. Together, we can rewrite the traditional linear notion of growth into a balanced, interconnected ecosystem that promotes planetary well-being and a society with equal opportunities for all.

Long interest in how multidisciplinary work helps address real world public health challenges but hugely frustrated by the seemingly narrow perspective of traditional economics. Doughnut economics gave me a deal ‘aha, but of course!’ moment.

How do we empower people, businesses, and organizations to create a sustainable world? That question is my focus as a human and communication and development consultant! For me, it's about a shared new understanding of the planet's boundaries and a new way of seeing our existence in the world. We need to create conditions and processes that promote life and well-being for people and the planet. We must understand the circles we are part of and be equipped with the knowledge and tools that enable us to think innovatively and envision the green common future we can all co-create. But it is also an understanding that we are all part of a larger story – our past influences our present, and the decisions we make shape our future. My approach is an ecosystemic perspective on ESG, Doughnut Economics, and sustainable development. I work independently and in collaboration with others who are passionate about creating a sustainable and viable world within the planet's boundaries. It's more fun to solve big challenges together with others 😉 I look forward to hearing from you! 🌱

Aging, pensive schlub; dyspeptic alter kacker (Yiddish; do a search); crackpot Upper Manhattanite. My Mastodon timeline is, currently, largely a reflection of my self-hosted Friendica timeline which, in turn, is part of a larger project to combine self-hosted open source online facilities into a community-building and -maintaining suite. I have a hashtag that I use a lot (alone, as far as I can tell): This is meant to index scattered reflections on the history of human community as a uniquely adaptive invention, its impoverishment over the last few centuries by various hegemonic forces (chiefly economic), and the appropriation (and sometimes enclosure) of many of the most useful and adaptive aspects of human community by institutions and organizations.

I spent 15 years in fostering local #economic development and designing major public infrastructure. I worked as Deputy Managing Director for Economy, Innovation, Employment and Int'l at Nice Côte d'Azur Metropolis and used to run Sophia Antipolis Technopolis. I also gained international experience as project director in one of the major French concession and construction company. After realising economic development is a complex issue, in which we need to reconcile economic growth, planetary boundaries and social thresholds, I decided to focus on raising collective awareness about this issue, using the Donut Economic Model, which I find particularly clear and enlightning. I also decided to make a radical turn in my carreer and undertook the transformation of the family farm into an organic farm. I currently pursue my efforts to developping biodiversity within the family farm and help organisations shift their focus from economic development to Donut Economics! Let's shape a fairer and livelier future together!
