I founded the Betancourt Group, a communications and business strategy firm for positive environmental and social impact. I work with businesses, organizations, entrepreneurs, and community leaders to help them achieve their communication and marketing goals. I am also passionate about content creation and the power of storytelling across social platforms.  I am a proud member of the United States Air Force Reserves.

 I am the coordinator and one of the two founder members of a small group seeking regional autonomy for where we lived, called Democratic Yorkshire. For me, Democratic Yorkshire is a spiritual journey as much  as anything else. An inclusive society and the move towards an ecological civilisation are just as important as creating a vibrant, participative democracy. The three go hand in hand.  Switching to a model of 'Doughnut Economics' is essential to the regions future and to providing hope to our children and future generations of Yorkshire girls and boys. I spent 15 years in fostering local #economic development and designing major public infrastructure. I worked as Deputy Managing Director for Economy, Innovation, Employment and Int'l at Nice Côte d'Azur Metropolis and used to run Sophia Antipolis Technopolis. I also gained international experience as project director in one of the major French concession and construction company. After realising economic development is a complex issue, in which we need to reconcile economic growth, planetary boundaries and social thresholds, I decided to focus on raising collective awareness about this issue, using the Donut Economic Model, which I find particularly clear and enlightning. I also decided to make a radical turn in my carreer and undertook the transformation of the family farm into an organic farm. I currently pursue my efforts to developping biodiversity within the family farm and help organisations shift their focus from economic development to Donut Economics!
