For over 8 years I was building a "predestined" career in hospitality thanks to certain pressures from our family business. After years of yearning for a purpose and a more fulfilling career & lifestyle, I recently "greenquit" my job in luxury hospitality and started working at a cleantech company in Norway. I've been increasingly intrigued and inspired by learning about climate science, degrowth, circular economy and frankly any topic related to a more sustainable future. Of course it wasn't long until I heard about Doughnut Economics. Since this shift, I've been motivated and excited to understand the challenges that ail our society & environment, and find ways to contribute to the solutions required to overcome them.

I have worked in the education sector for just under ten years- in a school, at a non-profit and now leading the education and skills programme for a global corporate. I want to ensure the programme I run helps equips the next generation with the skills needed to confront challenges like the climate crisis and navigating ever-evolving technological change. I am here to learn but also be a part of a movement.

Miljøpunkt Amager and Copenhagen Doughnut in Copenhagen
I work as a project manager at Miljøpunkt Amager. It's a NGO that works on a local level in two of Copenhagens 12 districts - namely the Eastern and Western part of Amager. At Miljøpunkt Amager we have incorporated the Doughnut Economics model into our 4 year action plan. Also we have created DoughnutBio (Doughnut Cinema) in collaboration with Jacob Rask from Copenhagen Doughnut. At the Doughnut Cinema we show documentaries to involve the participants emotionally on a subject and with information about doughnut economics and the planetary boundaries. At the first DoughnutBio we showed the documentary '2040' (2019) by Damon Gameau that uses the doughnut economics model to showcase how solutions may work if we implement them full scale. 2040 was followed by a workshop in unrolling the doughnut in a Amager/Copenhagen context. The two consecutive DoughnutBios have focused on biodiversity and air pollution.

My interests are Integral Theory/Philosophy, Metamodernism, GameB and dozens of topics related to the coming societal changes - for which I use the term Humanity's Transition. Most recently I've found deepest meaning in Analytic Idealism – which in my view is the most disruptive and consequential metaphysical theory. What I do: I teach maths, science and computer science as a private tutor – which I love – and carve out time to spend on my project which I’m tentatively calling the Humanity’s Transition Participation Program summarized on this Notion page https://humanitys-transition.notion.site. One of the strands is a Meetup group in Oxford: Humanity’s Transition – Oxford Discussion group that meets once a month. #education #metamodernism #integraltheory #analyticidealism #humanitystransition

I am the coordinator and one of the two founder members of a small group seeking regional autonomy for where we lived, called Democratic Yorkshire. For me, Democratic Yorkshire is a spiritual journey as much as anything else. An inclusive society and the move towards an ecological civilisation are just as important as creating a vibrant, participative democracy. The three go hand in hand. Switching to a model of 'Doughnut Economics' is essential to the regions future and to providing hope to our children and future generations of Yorkshire girls and boys. At 70 years of age, it is their future that really matters. www.democraticyorkshire.co.uk

I am 53, recently retired. I was a secondary MFL and mindfulness teacher, mother of 3. I am interested in the concept of doughnut economics as I am really concerned by the effects of Climate change and I have lost faith in our current economic system based on consumption and growth. We need to realize that bigger, better and more can't go on forever.

I was really fascinated and won over by the concepts in Kate Raworth's brilliant book, and it brought me here. I'm keen to learn more and to understand how I might be able to help move us in a more sustainable direction. I live in Nottingham, work in London a couple of days a week as a Business Agility Lead. Interested in local and virtual events, and any materials, concepts, and providers which will help me to make changes to my own lifestyle or to positively influence that of others.

Hello, I'm Francine, I like to think of myself as a circular thinker. This mindset has brought me curiosity and encouraged me to question conventional thinking. My eagerness for knowledge has provided me with opportunities to challenge the conventional linear patterns we often follow as a society. Doughnut Economics book was one of those wake-up calls. As an expert in sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) strategies, I co-founded Conexus.Earth in Australia, a consultancy that guides businesses to track their sustainability/ESG commitments with powerful methodologies and tools to build the journey to make actions. I strongly believe that when we align methodologies and tools, we have the power to transform ideas into impactful actions. It's about picking up a pencil and drafting out fresh insights, connecting all the dots across environmental, social, and governance aspects in a collaborative way. The Doughnut Economics methodology can unleash our collective potential and create magic. Join the DEAL community brings to me the gift of connecting with like-minded individuals. Together, we can rewrite the traditional linear notion of growth into a balanced, interconnected ecosystem that promotes planetary well-being and a society with equal opportunities for all.
