I've been an environmental campaigner since reading Rachel Carlson's Silent Spring sometime in the late sixties. I believe we have to provide an alternative vision which will bring about the necessary shift to a sustainable future for the planet. As a graduate of the radical Science and Technology degree course at Middlesex University, a multi-disciplinary viewpoint focusing on the wider issues of the many crises we face in tackling climate change and moving from measures of Growth to measures of Quality of life for the many species of life including humans who are under threat, I am a long standing member of environmental pressure and campaign groups including the Green Party, and recognise that the ideas presented by DEAL offer many insights into ways we can spread the message that in order to act we also have to find workable ways to inspire and involve others.
