Retired former Chartered Surveyor interested in all things to do with creating a balanced relationship with nature and what we can do, as individuals, to strengthen this relationship. I strongly believe in us taking responsibility for our actions and understanding what we can do to hand the planet on in a better shape than it is at present.

I work in local government in London as director of strategy and analysis and as a trustee at a think-tank focused on London. We are looking at creating a fairer economy and tackling all sorts of inequalities… want to explore new ideas and strategies that effectively address complex issues and create better join up across the London public sector.

After years of working in the social sector and social investment in the UK, I am using my background in anthropology to do research on climate imaginaries and behaviours in Berlin. Just like so many people, I want to (very modestly) contribute to understanding how we can transition to a sustainable system centred on solidarity. Back in London, I grew tired of hearing about eternal growth, and how social impact and profits can thrive together as long without any deeper reflection about the values underpinning our economy. This is why I decided to join this community! :)

Some years ago I made the decision to follow my passion and made a switch from the world of business to that of teaching. I now teach economics in secondary school, with the express purpose of driving curricular change: to make economics education more just and sustainable. I aim to combine my background in change management, economic policy and education, with my interests in ecological economics and social justice to help prepare the next generation for the complex future they are facing.

I’m a volunteer in a deprived community in Burnley that never benefits from spurious ‘trickle down ‘ or ‘level up’ economics. Capitalism oppresses communities like mine, as well as others across our planet, which is why we need a radical change in social & economic policy.
