Founder of The Shady Lanes Project and member of Regen Brisbane When I started my verge garden, my reason was simple. I was fed up with mowing it. Back then, I had no idea where it would lead me. Now I think verge gardens could be the key to saving us from the worst of climate change and biodiversity loss. Big claim for unimportant little bits of land, you might say. Come on the journey and see if you change your mind. The Shady Lanes Project is about a lot more than us all planting out our little patches. It’s about bringing diverse people together to learn how to collaborate by doing. It’s about changing the way we see nature. It’s about eco-systems thinking.   Second year BSc Global Development studies undergraduate at UOM . Head of campaigns committee at the Post-Crash Economics society, campaigning for the implementation of a Doughnut Economics module in BSc/BA Econ courses, partnering with Rethinking Economics.  Co-authored the latest Manchester economics curriculum ‘health check’ and wrote foreword for the 2024 Rethinking Economics national report.

I started out as a teacher in London, before joining Teach For All, a growing network of organizations in sixty countries worldwide working to ensure that all children get an education that prepares them to shape a better future for themselves and all of us. I head the network's Global Learning Lab, which seeks to deepen global understanding of how to bring about systemic transformation in education. I've written about the future of education for the Guardian, Financial Times, and Wired. I presented The Learning Revolution, a three part series on the future of education for BBC Radio 4, and I'm the author of Natural Born Learners, a guide to transforming learning in the twenty-first century.

I am a passionate advocate for the environment, driven by a profound love for ecology, nature, biodiversity, and animals. I consider myself fortunate to be part of the Doughnut Economics Action Lab, where I can contribute my skills and knowledge to a community that is committed to transforming how we live and work on this planet. In my efforts to marry my passion for the environment with my hands-on experience, I have volunteered with several forward-thinking organizations. One of my notable contributions has been to the Georgia Mountain Falconry Manual, where I worked to integrate ecological principles into practice. I've also been fortunate to work with the Ecological Society of Australia, helping to champion research and management that enhance ecological outcomes in a time of dramatic global environmental change. My commitment to addressing climate change led me to volunteer briefly with the Citizens Climate Lobby. This experience allowed me to understand the power of individuals and collective advocacy in pushing for essential policy changes. As I continue my studies in Artificial Intelligence at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, I am constantly exploring how this cutting-edge field can intersect with sustainability and ecological goals. I believe that technological advancement can go hand in hand with environmental stewardship, and I am excited by the potential that AI holds in driving sustainable solutions. My interest extends to concepts like sustainability and degrowth, which challenge traditional economic paradigms and offer the promise of a balanced, equitable, and sustainable society. I am excited by the transformative potential of these ideas and their ability to help us imagine and create a world that values and protects ecological systems while ensuring human prosperity. As an active member of the Doughnut Economics Action Lab, I am eager to contribute to rethinking our global economic model. My hope is to leverage my unique combination of skills and interests to promote an economy that respects planetary boundaries, nurtures all forms of life, and allows future generations to thrive.

I grew up in Ireland and the United States. My mother had a travel business, so I was fortunate to have traveled from a young age. I have lived and worked in seven countries, many in Asia, in the marketing, advertising, and public relations domain. In 2008, I moved into video production, creating health and sustainable development content. Today I am writing a story about our human journey over the next three thousand years. Director –  1Earth Pty Ltd – Australia With an academic and professional background in science, business, and finance, Eva is an experienced advisor and consultant on integrating environmental, social and governance values in finance.  She was Head of Sustainability and Climate Change to FINSIA, the Financial Services Institute of Australasia, worked for the UN in Geneva, Switzerland and for a federal minister in Australia. As an ethical investment advisor in Australia, she advised individuals and NGOs on ethical or Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) portfolio strategies and wrote industry courses on this topic for the investment industry. Eva founded and was the Chair of The Climate Council Inc, whose aim was to integrate federal and investment industry initiatives on climate change. She was a delegate to a number of the international UNFCCC Kyoto Protocol meetings and served on a federal government selection panel for clean technologies. She speaks five languages and is certified as a permaculture teacher. As one of the Australian Ecotourism founders, she established the first national cetacean-based tourism industry association and served as its inaugural Chair. She sits on the Advisory Boards of Ethical Markets LLC, USA, the Climate Prosperity Alliance, USA, Climate Futures, Macquarie University, Australia and is a member of UN Harmony with Nature. Over the past years, her focus has shifted to partnering with traditional Indigenous elders from around the world to integrate sustainable innovations and systems thinking with traditional knowledge and a profound respect and connection to Land, Country and Spirit. I started with organizing climate marches followed by organizing an annual Earth week events. In 2017 I attended the Transition US National conference and was inspired by everyone. In 2018 I attended a Permaculture Design Course. That year I also started teaching sustainability classes at our community education program. In 2021 I took the "Surviving The Future" course and this is where I first encountered Kate Raworth.
