I'm a structural biologist (PhD), bioinformatician, strategic advisor and philosopher. My scientific work focuses on the characterisation of molecular interactions and networks between proteins. I thrived on the bioinformatics boom in the 90s. Since 2002, I have been managing innovation on the bridge between science and digital infrastructures with a focus on health, life and social sciences. Currently I work at SURF, national ICT infrastructure for education and research in the Netherlands. In a blend of biology, informatics and philosophy my current work investigates natural principles of a holistic intelligent society. The cooperative intelligence in the nanomolecular world of living beings is my source of inspiration for my philosophy: a natural design of human society with self-organisation principles and archetypes. My mission is to increase social consciousness by deep social biomimicry.
