After attending environmental biology education in the eighties, organising international environmental education in the nineties and performing research and consultancy on sustainability form the start of the millennium, I got involved in the activities of the lokal foundation "Ideewinkel" in Leiden in 2010. Since 2014 as projectleader of the "Groene Ideecafé", I offer together with a working group a platform for local sustainable initiatives. It aims to inform, inspire connect and activate the network of citizens, that aim to apply the global sustainable development goals at a local level. Inspired by the Amsterdam City Portrait, I started looking for soul mates to initiate and support the process with the Leiden Donut Coalition. With the help of the local network of social an ecological networks, and the energy and enthousiasm of students of the programme Governance of Sustainability, we want to create the first Leiden City Selfie and formulate recommendations on how to proceed to complete the Leiden City Portrait. To contribute to reaching a balance at local and global scale between the needs of people and safe planetairy boundaries.

I am a father of two under 10 children and run my business as a custom software developer. I am passionate about helping motivating action on mitigating the climate crisis. I have done a bit of everything - running for the Green party, protesting in the streets with XR and making the continuous changes needed to reduce my carbon footprint. I have shed all the clients that I used to have whose business models were actively damaging to the environment and our ability to survive. My focus is on finding clients who could benefit from my skills as they work on climate crisis solutions (as listed in drawdown.org) All of these actions seem so utterly futile but they are what I can do. I am seeking opportunities to make better use of my energy to help with what we are about to endure.

Racheal Inegbedion has 9 years of experience in Disability Advocacy, Policy and Youth & Development issues. Currently, Racheal is the Founding Executive Director of the Special Needs Initiative For Growth (SNIG), a non-Governmental organisation focused on empowering persons with disabilities through the provision of resources and practical programs for living a meaningful life. She connects persons with disabilities with demand driven ICT tools and resources so that they can access inclusive education and then employment opportunities. She is an Ashoka young change maker and a  2021 Mandela Washington Fellow Alumna, a program of the U.S. Department of State with funding provided by the U.S. Government and administered by the International Research & Exchanges Board. Racheal's organization was awarded for the best innovative practice in employment and ICT for persons with disabilities by the Zero Project. Racheal is a Global Exchange on Religion in Society Fellow by the European Union External Action. She was recognised by the United Nations Secretary-General Envoy on Youth as one of the 10 young leaders inspired to change the world during the COVID-19 crisis. Racheal has been featured on the technology news of the Voice of America and Google Chrome as a “Google Leaptaker” for using STEM and Robotics to empower youths with disabilities in Africa.  Lastly, Racheal is undergoing her Msc .Sustainable Development at the University of St. Andrews Scotland. Her goal in the next few years is to  proffer her expertise on a multilateral level at the Department of Economic and Social Affairs under the office of the Secretary-General on Disability and Accessibility where she will be promoting the rights of Persons with Disabilities at a larger scale.

Social inequality is rife and growing, and the climate emergency is accelerating. We need to shift the economic narrative away from exponential growth and extraction to one of regeneration and distribution, and put people at the heart of decisions that affect their lives. Allen is an Architect, Urban Designer, Teacher,  Lecturer and a Certified Passivhaus Designer in the process of building a Passivhaus PLUS (energy Positive) certified house in the Shetland Islands using a timber factory produced framed kit.  He has worked as project architect, master planner, and site architect on landmark and infrastructure projects railways stations and airports and also highly serviced research laboratory facilities for leading international practices such as SOM, HOK, BDP and RMJM.     Allen is also a 5th year PhD researcher at the   University of Greenwich, Faculty of Business,    School of Systems Management and Strategy   and a member of the  Sustainability Technology and Innovation Research Group (STIR).  He is researching Sustainable Urban Housing looking at the uptake of the Passivhaus standard particularly in the ‘for rent’ and ‘not for profit’ sectors of housing delivery system in the UK.

My work as a conservation biologist focuses land-use planning, watershed science, landscape connectivity, and naturalist and stewardship training. I am based in Mendocino County where my work is aimed at transforming land and water management and people’s environmental knowledge, identity, and actions.

I am a filmmaker and communications professional with a decade of visual storytelling experience. I founded Cape Creative in 2014 for my side freelance work, and eventually built it into the full production company it is today. Prior to working at Cape Creative full-time, I worked at national and international agencies: Blue State Digital, The Biscuit Factory, and GMR Marketing. I created visual stories for major brands including Comcast, Microsoft, Lowe’s, Coca-Cola, Pepsi, and I helped create content for causes like Freedom to Marry and Shatterproof, an organization working to reverse the addiction crisis in the U.S.   I have a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Marquette University, where I was a three-sport Division I athlete. I also hold a master’s degree in Geography & the Environment from the University of Oxford. My master’s thesis on feminist geographies, which received a distinction, was used by the Obama White House to develop its policy around sexual assault on college campuses. I live in Barcelona with my better half, Katie, who also works in the communications industry.

Based in Naarm (Melbourne, Australia) and founded in 2005, Green Collect is non-profit  social enterprise and inclusive workplace creating new jobs through circular economy services, delivering innovative solutions for resources discarded from offices and homes. Green Collect is founded on 2 interconnected principles: 1. that we recognise the value in all people, that their background, life storey and lived experiences are important and something we can all learn from 2. the value in materials, recognising how things are made, what they are made from, that they derived from the earth and that we are are interdependent on the natural ecosystems. Our vision was to create a place that represented and lived out these values counter to the systems we live in.  Systems that have not recognised the value in all people or the natural environment, systems that historically create inequalities, exclude people and exploit resources. Here at GC, all people are welcome and all items we collect through our activities are handled carefully and individually to identify the best outcome, environmentally, socially, and financially. I am so excited to finally find references and frameworks that can contribute to the work we do and offer an alternative model.
