She is currently working as a fractional executive for founder driven brands as a trained conscious capitalist. She is a 2021 Canadian Delegate at the G20 Youth Entrepreneurship Alliance and represented Canada in Milan in October 2021. Previously, Angela led 80 partnerships as Director of Brands at a firm voted in the 2018 top ten global social impact businesses, by Real Leaders, with B lab. She led a roundtable on purpose-driven business at Alt Summit in 2020 and was featured as a conscious consumer expert by CBC News radio, digital and TV. She regularly serves as a social impact mentor for next generation founders, and was a juror for Fashion Takes Action Design Forward, Canada’s award for sustainable fashion in 2018. She previously sat on the Board of Directors for Zooshare Biogas Collective and Sitti Soap social enterprise.

I first came across the Doughnut in 2011 when working on the Well-being of Future Generations Act. After reading the book both my interest and inspiration deepened. I have recently spent two years in Potsdam as a fellow of the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies.

I am an urban development specialist from South Africa. I am passionate about working with like-minded people to contribute to the creation of cities that provide equal opportunities for all, while developing sustainably, within the planetary boundaries. What really excites me about doughnut economics is the aim to tackle inequality while also dealing with climate change. It is difficult (potentially overwhelming) trying to deal with both pressing issues, and more often than not, they’re disconnected in implementation. I am excited about exploring the doughnut principles in more detail in the developing world/South African city context, where basic needs have not yet been met and poverty, inequality and unemployment are rife.

Professor Chris Speed is Chair of Design Informatics at University of Edinburgh where his research focuses upon the Network Society, Design for the Digital Economy, and Sustainable Futures. Chris has been involved in 25 research grants (leading on 9) since 2009 across ESPRC, ESRC and AHRC, has published over 120 papers and presented widely on the role of design in the Digital Economy. He now Co-Directs the Institute for Design Informatics, leads the Creative Informatics programme, and is Director for Innovation at the Edinburgh Futures Institute.

Laura leads Tamarack's work on Climate Transitions and the Sustainable Development Goals. She is passionate about supporting cities and communities in their journeys towards ensuring a just, equitable and sustainable future for the next 7 generations and beyond. Through events, publications, communities of practice and other learning opportunities, Laura is helping advance the 2030 Agenda in Canada with a specific focus on the goals related to equity and climate change. Prior to joining the Tamarack, Laura worked with the McConnell Foundation and with several federal government departments. Laura holds a BComm and a Master's in Global Studies. She has co-authored a book on UN reform and co-founded a social enterprise supporting women's economic empowerment in Uganda.
