Founded in 1998 our name comes from the Biodiversity Convention of the 1992 Rio Earth Summit and reflects our vision to help people understand and change their behaviour to enable a more sustainable world. We believe in impact-driven sustainability starting with what the world needs. Our mission is rooted in planetary limits and social needs.
We work with leadership teams in the private and public sector, NGOs and multi-stakeholder groups and partnerships. We start with the biggest risks to society and the planet - planetary limits, social needs and SDGs - and end with support to define the corporate/organisational role in mitigating these risks, demonstrating the transformative potential of integrating people and planet into innovation strategies and distributive design.
For over 10 years, our annual sustainability practitioner research has monitored how the World’s largest companies are using planetary limits and social needs in their measurement, target setting, and reporting. We also calculate how many of the targets are set at scale with what the World needs to survive.
Article 13 is a certified B Corporation. an SBTN Corporate engagement Program member, a signatory of the Business for Nature coalition, part of the natural capital’s alliance, science-based targets initiative for nature CEP and part of TNFD. We have also joined the World Benchmarking Alliance.

I am a neurobiologist turned data engineer, who wants to bring my analytical/tech skills and biological background to drive the world towards a sustainable and socially progressive future. After reading Doughnut Economics, my tabula rasa was scrawled with ideas of what a sustainable economy could be. And I want to be part of creating it.

I’m a writer/filmmaker who works in film, television, documentary, and advertising. I have a European BA Honours degree in International History and Politics from the University of Leeds/Uppsala University and a Masters in Screenwriting from the National Film and Television School/Royal College of Art. Given that economics underpins every aspect of our society and our current model isn’t fit for purpose, I want to join the DEAL community to help spread the ideas of Doughnut Economics and change our economic system for the better.
