Nanaimo

On October 24, 2026, Nanaimo Prosperity Corporation celebrated Global Donut Days with a community bike ride exploring Doughnut Economics in action across Nanaimo.

Despite the pouring rain, 23 riders joined us to discover local initiatives and places that contribute to a thriving community. Along the route, we stopped at Beaufort Park Food Forest to learn about community food growing and neighbourhood stewardship, Midtown Gateway to explore active transportation and people-centred infrastructure, and the Tom Harris Regional Food Centre to learn about regional food recovery and food security across Vancouver Island.

With the generous support of Evolve E-Bikes, participants could borrow e-bikes free of charge.

Coffee & donuts kept everyone fuelled along the way!
