CIGLE FÉ-SZEK Social Cooperative is a Hungarian community-based organization committed to creating social and environmental value through sustainable, locally driven initiatives. Our work focuses on supporting small local producers, developing community gardens, promoting sustainable agriculture and local food systems, and organizing educational and awareness-raising programs. We were founded on the belief that a resilient and fair local economy must serve both people and the planet — ensuring dignified living conditions for community members while preserving natural resources for future generations.  Our current goal is to develop a sectoral training and development center based on a cluster model, which connects local stakeholders — producers, educators, and community actors — in a cooperative framework to strengthen regional sustainability and innovation. Shared values and vision The core principles of Doughnut Economics — balancing social foundations with ecological ceilings — perfectly align with our mission. Joining DEAL would help us deepen our understanding and practical application of these principles in our local projects and community development work. Learning and knowledge exchange We believe that the tools, frameworks, and learning opportunities offered by DEAL would help us strengthen our initiatives and assess their real social and environmental impact. We see great value in learning from other members’ experiences and sharing our own. Networking and collaboration Becoming part of the DEAL community would allow us to connect with like-minded organizations and practitioners around the world. Through collaboration, we hope to co-create solutions that are both locally relevant and globally significant. Applying global ideas locally Our aim is not only to embrace the Doughnut framework conceptually but also to implement it in practice — through community farming, circular local economies, educational programs, and participatory local development. We believe that building “local doughnuts” is a key step toward systemic change.

I am a team member of Donut Wien (Doughnut Vienna) and want to help bring Vienna into the doughnut. One of our core projects is to create a city portrait of Vienna, which shall serve as a compass for the city's transformation (and hopefully also as a model for further doughnuts in Austria and abroad).  Over the last 25 years I have been working in business consulting, international development cooperation, public R&D funding and as finance manager in small biotech companies.

I am an international human rights lawyer and Founder & CEO of Equitable Global Futures (EGF), US-based boutique advisory with global work (EN/ES). I bridge human rights, economic governance, and sustainability into actionable strategy for governments, multilaterals, and companies. Known for advancing conventionality control in the Inter-American System of Human Rights, I lead the Right to a Sustainable Economy framework with rights-by-design toolkits, UNGPs due diligence, accountable ESG, and KPI-based roadmaps. Within DEAL, I focuse on co-creating wellbeing policy and budgeting: sector pilots, procurement and licensing with safeguards, rights-aligned indicators, and independent assurance. I also advises on Bitcoin & open blockchain for social impact (privacy, inclusion, humanitarian access) and public-interest Web3 governance.

Teaching New Economies in the Classroom: some uncomfortable reflections

I am drawn to the Doughnut Economics Action Lab Community because it offers a practical and Planetary-centered approach to development that aligns closely with my vision for inclusive and regenerative societies. Coming from a background in History and Development practice, I have worked in TVET, livelihood, and disability inclusion projects in Bangladesh, where I have seen how economic growth often overlooks social equity and ecological balance. DEAL’s framework inspires me because it connects economic systems with human dignity, community wellbeing, and planetary boundaries. I want to learn from global practitioners, exchange ideas, and explore how Doughnut Economics can be adapted to contexts like Bangladesh. In the future, I hope to apply these ideas through my initiative, Development X, focusing on inclusive livelihoods and regenerative community development.

I'm Head of communication at the Fédération vaudoise de coopération (www.fedevaco.ch), an organization working in international cooperation, in collaboration with Swiss public authorities. As part of our advocacy work, we are developing ideas on the global social lens and the responsibility of public authorities for living conditions in the Global South. The aim is to explore the links between official development assistance and achieving a world within the Doughnut. I'm Head of Partnerships and Knowledge Sharing at Fédération vaudoise de coopération (www.fedevaco.ch), an organization active in development cooperation. As part of our advocacy work toward public authorities, we are developing ideas from a global social perspective and examining the responsibility of public authorities for living conditions in the Global South. The goal is to explore the links between official development assistance and the achievement of a world within the Doughnut.

This year, we ran the second edition of our book club reading through "Less is More" by Jason Hickel.

I’m a senior leader in the building maintenance and social housing sector, currently working as a Head of Operations across South England, with a particular focus on retrofit and decarbonisation. Outside of work, I’m advocating fo a fairer and more regenerative future. I’m interested not only in how we redesign our institutions and economies, but how we empower people and communities, unlock our collective potential, and turn the extraordinary resources, knowledge and technology humanity already possesses towards shared prosperity and planetary wellbeing. I’m married with two children, which makes this deeply personal too. I want their generation to inherit a world of greater possibility, fairness and security. I’m currently writing How to Fix the World, exploring these ideas and developing the concept of a Global Missions Force (GMF) as a new model for turning global ambition into sustained, real-world action.
