My work in rural Japan focuses on how people’s lived experiences, sensory engagement, and cultural narratives shape healthier, more resilient communities. Doughnut Economics inspires me because it connects ecological limits with human flourishing, offering a practical framework that aligns with my research and fieldwork. I hope to learn from global practitioners, share insights from Japanese rural contexts, and co-create new models for nature-positive, community-driven development.

I’m Ömer, a political science researcher and documentary practitioner interested in democratic governance, environmental justice, and the ways communities shape policy from the ground up. I founded Nexus Point Doc, where I develop research-driven documentary projects. My most recent work — supported by the National Geographic Society and The Nature Conservancy — examines environmental inequality through a feminist political economy lens. Academically, my work focuses on public administration, civic innovation, and the social implications of emerging technologies. As a Bevisioneer Fellow, I explore future-oriented approaches to community organizing and participatory governance. I also contribute analyses on politics, culture, and global issues for MEER, Vox Artistica, and Sense Of Cinema. I’m joining the DEAL Community because I value its commitment to distributed, community-led decision making. I’m excited to learn from practitioners, exchange ideas, and contribute through my background in research, storytelling, and collaborative project work.

His work focuses on rethinking prosperity, strengthening community resilience, and amplifying youth voices in shaping regenerative and distributive futures.

I brings over two decades of extensive experience working in underserved communities. My career spans Africa and North America where I successfully designed, managed, and implemented donor-funded development projects by leading global development agencies such as the World Bank, USAID, USADF, IFAD, MISEREOR, DFID,COMIC RELIEF, USIP, and MacArthur Foundation.  I brings a unique blend of strategic leadership, grassroot development and cross-cultural collaboration. My work has consistently focused on driving sustainable change by empowering communities, building institutional capacities and fostering inclusive economic opportunities. I effectively bridge academic theory with real-world practice, translating scholarly insights into meaningful, practical impact. I hold a PhD in Sustainable Development and Diplomacy and I am also an Associate Member of the International Society for Development and Sustainability (ISDS).

By night, I am Fridays for Future activist.
