Leeds says 'Many Yeses!' to positive alternatives
Leeds celebrated GDD with a marketplace of activities, workshops, a film screening and lots of good conversations.
For the finale of Global Donut Days week, folk gathered at Imagine Leeds in the heart of Leeds University campus to celebrate the Leeds Doughnut Coalition's 4th and last 'Many Yeses' event. A band of committed volunteers had worked together over many months to co-create an engaging, inventive, fun and stimulating programme of activities.
Everything came together on Friday 17th October - a crisp, sunny, beautiful autumn day full of connection, conversation, good food and good vibes. Highlights of the day included:
- Activities on Universal Basic Income, reimagining how money could work if we prioritised things differently
- Screening and discussion of 'Purpose: a wellbeing economies film', showing how resilience and agility are key qualities of successful change-makers
- 'Future Capital Guardians' - a card-based role play game for fresh perspectives on change
- Our unique take on 'Fridge poetry', inviting people to hack up Adam Smith's Wealth of Nations and re-form its words into their own verses
- A one-off, hand-made, interactive art installation called the 'Pledge Dress', by local designer Goodness Woodhead to stimulate action on sustainability
