A World in Solidarity: Building a Global Alternative Media Network
How can we transform our economies if we don't transform the stories that shape our world?
Doughnut Economics challenges us to build economies that meet everyone's needs within planetary boundaries. But achieving this transformation also requires changing how we communicate, share knowledge, and challenge dominant economic narratives.
Today, independent media outlets, degrowth organizations, and grassroots movements are often working in isolation, despite sharing a common vision of ecological regeneration, social justice, and economies centered on wellbeing rather than endless growth.
What if we joined forces?
On 29 November 2026, Sufficiency Media is organizing A World in Solidarity, an international participatory workshop to explore how we can build a lasting global alternative media network.
What to expect
This is not a traditional conference with long presentations. It is a collaborative space for exchanging experiences, developing ideas, and exploring opportunities for collective action.
Together, we will discuss:
- How alternative media can amplify the work of Doughnut Economics practitioners, degrowth organizations, and movements for systemic change.
- How we can challenge dominant narratives of endless economic growth and consumption.
- How organizations can share resources, knowledge, audiences, and communication strategies.
- How to collectively shape a movement-media network rooted in solidarity, cooperation, and mutual support.
The workshop will begin with introductions and a shared framing of our challenges, followed by participatory discussions and collective exploration of possible collaborations. Our goal is to identify opportunities for continued cooperation beyond the event.
