About this event

Since 2019, over 60 local and regional governments globally have been putting the concepts of Doughnut Economics into practice through their policies, strategies and practices.

We at DEAL have created some tools and resources to help this work, but also encourage local adaptations, contextualisation and experimentation with the concepts. The practical implementation has therefore looked very different from place to place. We at DEAL, through our Cities&Regions thematic area, have been supporting the work of local governments over the course of the past 5 years. We’ve done this primarily through light strategic 1-1 support, convening learning exchanges between different local governments online and in person, harnessing and synthesising insights from emerging practice, developing tools and resources based on needs.

However, as there isn't one way to get started, or a step-by-step process to follow, getting started or operationalising Doughnut Economics in local governments can be challenging. We don't have all the answers, but we continue to learn with and from a global community of local government practitioners. This session is therefore an open space in which you can drop-in at any point to ask any question, or ask for advice to DEAL's Cities & Regions Lead Leonora, who will do her best to help out.

You can join the session for the full hour, or at any point you're able to. This is a a bit of an experimental format - but hopefully, there will be time and space to discuss all questions, as well as to listen and learn from what others are bringing.

This session is for you, if you are:

  • working inside a local government, or for one, and want to get started with Doughnut Economics and has specific questions related to your work and context
  • already working with Doughnut Economic in a local government and have any questions, need for advice, are looking for case studies, are looking for connections, are looking for specific materials or information.
  • an organisation, community organiser, resident, campaigner advocating to your local government to use Doughnut Economics
  • a researcher studying the practice of Doughnut Economics in local governments
