For GDD 2026, Donut Wien will present the process and key findings of Vienna's qualitative Doughnut Portrait, inviting open reflection on what the research reveals about the city's social and ecological future.
In Autumn 2026 and only one year after Doughnut Vienna was officially founded, the City of Vienna will present its Climate Action Plan (Klimafahrplan) — and it will be doughnut-shaped.
Over the past months we have been working with representatives from Vienna's climate team to develop a Doughnut Portrait which aligns the goals and principles of the city's new climate strategy with those of the Doughnut. The Portrait outlines areas of alignment while also pinpointing areas for future development. It covers the Doughnut's key social and ecological dimensions and also assesses the strategy through the seven Doughnut Economics Principles. We hope it can be the start of a process that can shape future strategy and action inline with human and planetary flourishing - and we'd love to hear what this community thinks!
In this interactive discussion the Doughnut Vienna team will discuss:
* How the project came about
* Our process (covering research methodology, dialogue with local decisionmakers, as well as scientific support, including from the DEAL team)
* Key outcomes / findings
* Next steps (as part of an audience discussion about where we go from here)
