Please Note: This event has now finished and can no longer be joined.
Doughnut Economics is rapidly gaining momentum across the world, with governments, businesses, communities and more exploring how to apply the principles in practice. The work of the Doughnut Economics Action Lab has created a wealth of resources and support for operationalising the model, and encouraging practitioners to learn from each other.
A key barrier has been identified by many organisations hoping to bring Doughnut Economics into their work and mission – how to secure internal buy-in for the transformation required?
This Community of Practice will explore this question, learning from those who have started the process, and sharing good practice and peer support.
The CoP will be open to any group, organisation and individual facing this same challenge.
We will aim to meet approximately every two months, and will meet online via Zoom. Meetings will be in English, and during working hours for UTC/UK time, but members from all across the world are very welcome.
Our first meeting is scheduled for 20 July 2023. If you are interested in joining, please let us know by emailing Peter at gfn@exeter.ac.uk.
The Green Futures Network is an initiative run by the University of Exeter to increase access to climate research and resources. We run various Communities of Practice from climate adaptation to Scope 3 carbon emissions. Find out more at gfn.exeter.ac.uk.

I am teaching at various Universities here in Austria and a radio host at a local public radio station. My activities are very much centered on promoting the circular economy through local activism. Although the pandemic has derailed such plans for the foreseeable future, my goal is to establish a big-tent organization to foster cooperation among the various circular economy initiatives in Vienna - circular.wien

I have worked in the private and public sector for the last 20 years. As such, I have had an opportunity to interact firsthand with the impact neoclassical economics has had on perpetrating the shortfalls in the social foundations as well as its impact on climate change which is one of the planetary boundaries that has been overshot. Interacting with the concept of doughnut economics has created the picture that I have been searching for which would be a solution for dealing with the current situation we find ourselves. On the basis of the above, I am working towards incorporating the doughnut economic approach in the consultancy services I offer to county governments and government agencies in Kenya, private sector and other organizations in the area of International Trade, Public Policy and Public Private Partnerships through a company that I founded - International Trade, Public Policy and Public Private Partnerships (IP5) Africa Consultants Limited. I am also incorporating the doughnut economic concept in agriculture and value addition through a company that I founded - Adaeze Organics Limited. In this regard, I am creating an organic herbs, fruits, vegetables and medicinal plants forest on 30 acres of land. Value addition on farm produce will be organic with zero waste. I am also working with the community in the area to address issues of food security and poverty.
