Celebrating one year of Doughnut Economics in Universities!
In November 2024, DEAL and Rethinking Economics International launched Doughnut Economics for University Courses - a webpage providing extensive slide decks, videos, readings and activities for anyone seeking to teach each of the 'seven ways to think like a 21st century economist' at university level.
This session marks one year since the launch of these resources, and we’re celebrating the incredible energy and creativity they’ve sparked worldwide. So far we know of sixteen confirmed changes that have been made in university curricula to integrate some of these materials - from Germany to Puerto Rico and Nigeria to the UK (and if you know of such changes being made elsewhere, do let us know!)
This event will be a chance for you to re-engage with the DE university resources, and an opportunity to hear from educators from around the world, including Kate Raworth, who have successfully used the resources to change their teaching. We will hear particularly about how they’ve been translated into new languages, adapted to local contexts, and taught in diverse ways across different disciplines and regions. And there will be plenty of time for discussion, so bring your questions!
If you haven't already, do join our Academic Community of Practice to stay up to date with webinars like these and to connect with others making changes to their curricula!
Please note that these webinars are specifically for academics in universities or higher education institutes wishing to bring Doughnut Economics into their teaching.
If you are a student interesting in campaigning for Doughnut Economics to be taught as part of your university course, please sign up here and Rethinking Economics will be in touch!
