How Doughnut Economics can help build circular cities and regions
Join internationally-acclaimed economist and author Kate Raworth to explore how to examine and rework local and global economies to meet the needs of all people within the means of the living planet.
Doughnut Economics proposes an economic mindset that's fit for the 21st-century context and challenges, placing the things humanity needs to survive and thrive in a direct relationship with our planetary boundaries. Drawing on insights from diverse schools of economics, it sets out seven ways to think in order to identify pathways for residents, businesses, communities and the environment around us to thrive within greener, fairer and stronger economies.
Chair: Cllr Christian Vassie (Chair, York City Council Climate Change Committee)

Member Zeenat Niazi New Delhi, Delhi, India I am a sustainable development planner, trained as an architect and in human settlement planning issues. I lead the policy studies and development action initiatives at the Development Alternatives Group. My work over three decades has focused on sustainable housing and habitat in human settlements, community based approaches to climate and disaster resilience and support to national, sub-national and local government governments in mainstreaming integrated planning for achieving Agenda 2030 and the Paris Agreement in India. My current work in habitat planning now increasingly addresses the concern of Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) systems through resource efficiency, circular economy and equity concerns in resource access. My research interest and expertise lies in the area of resource efficient and people-nature centric development planning. Using social and ecological systems approaches for resilience building in human settlements.
