Festival de la Economía de Bienestar – GDD 2026 Bogotá
A day of art, impact finance and education, in Spanish, hosted at Universidad de los Andes.
How does the event relate to Doughnut Economics?
The Festival is the Bogotá activation of Global Donut Days 2026 and puts "local action, global connection" into practice. It is organised by the Colombian Wellbeing Economies Network (Red Colombiana de Economias de Bienestar - RCEB), a multi-actor network that works to move Colombia from an extractive, growth-first economy towards one that serves collective wellbeing within planetary boundaries. We use the Doughnut as our shared frame, alongside Wellbeing Economies, Buen Vivir and the Social and Solidarity Economy.
The Festival has four sections, each answering the same question: how do wellbeing economy ideas speak to Colombia's reality today?
- Art & Narratives: open call for artists.
We invited artists to translate the Doughnut into artwork, starting from the diagnosis in the RCEB policy brief, in the spirit of Doughnut Portraits and DEAL's Communities & Arts work. We received 31 applications. The selected works will be exhibited at the Festival, and the winning artists receive a small monetary award.
- Wellbeing Economy Projects: open call for real-world examples.
We invited Colombian organisations, collectives and businesses whose projects already show that a different economy is possible to share their experience. We received 69 projects. This call offers them a platform to be heard, as their stories and sustainable practices serve as an inspiration to others. Additionally, it provides an opportunity to connect with peers in the field and a small financial incentive to help them grow.
- Impact conversation.
A panel on the tension between limits and impact, and on how capital can be redirected towards a safe and just space for humanity instead of unchecked growth. Confirmed speakers: Re-Fi, Bioethos and Casa Nido. key players in local cultivation and leaders in impact and sustainable growth.
- Education conversation.
A panel on how economics is taught and practised, and how heterodox approaches can shape what people learn and do. Confirmed speakers: Shambala, Páramo Savers, Universidad del Rosario and Acción Pública.
We chose speakers from different disciplines on purpose, and we will confirm the remaining speakers over the coming weeks. Both open calls have closed and selection is under way. 94 people have already registered to attend the festival, before we have started promoting the event, so we are projecting around 200 attendees.
