GDD 2025 - Thriving Cities - Zabrze
A two-day hybrid event in Zabrze and Katowice on applying Doughnut Economics for sustainable cities.

How can cities in transition create healthier, greener living spaces for their residents? In Zabrze, we will focus on urban quality of life, with special attention to urban greening and access to drinking water, two issues particularly relevant in Upper Silesia.
The event will combine inspiring talks with interactive workshops designed to engage participants in intergenerational and intersectoral collaboration. Together, we will explore how Doughnut Economics can be applied locally to shape fairer, more sustainable futures.
Who is it for?
- NGOs, municipal representatives and policy-makers,
- local entrepreneurs and academics,
- activists and residents – especially young people, as Zabrze faces ageing demographics and youth outmigration.
What to expect?
- expert talks and local practitioners’ perspectives,
- participatory workshops with gamified elements,
- open discussions on the future of Zabrze and the wider Silesian region,
- exchange of knowledge with both Polish and international participants.
Hybrid event – join us in person or online
