This creative workshop is for adults and children to have a voice and reimagine and create a new vision for Exeter.

We are the Possible - My Ideal City, My Ideal World

This creative workshop is for adults and children (10 years and above) to have a voice and reimagine and create a new vision for a healthier, greener and fairer living in Exeter.

The participants will work with climate and health experts from the University of Exeter and GARf, a local street artist, who has been voted for the best mural design: We Still Have a Chance; a people and planet legacy mural for Exeter.

This is an interactive and participatory workshop where we will use multiple art mediums including poetry, soundscapes, singing, drawing, collage and design. Get ready to share your innovative ideas, engage in thought-provoking conversations, and connect with like-minded individuals. Together, we can shape a future where anything is possible. Don't miss out on this incredible opportunity to be part of the movement towards a better world, in Exeter, and beyond!

This is a free event. Drinks, cakes and art materials will be provided for all participants.

The power of imagination

Many of us are striving, and even desperate, to create a more sustainable, healthy and socially just world. Science can help us get there, but we also need the power of imagination in order to create the kind of world we dream of. Cecilia Manosa Nyblon, Dr Sally Flint and Dr Fatma Sabet from the University of Exeter, invite you to join their creative workshop to imagine and create a liveable future in Exeter and beyond. Through community, collaboration, and creative practice, we will use the power of words, music and visual arts to create a collective vision for our ideal city and ideal world.

About We are The Possible Mural

This mural is located in the alleway between the library and the Phaenix. It is commissioned by the University of Exeter Green Futures COP27 team in 2023 and is funded by Knowledge E Foundation. This commission was launched in July and received 28 submissions with four artists shortlisted by a panel of stakeholders from local business, government, and arts and culture professionals. The artists prepared final proposals for the mural and the winning piece selected by a public vote was by local artist GARf reflecting a climate-inspired street art legacy mural to inspire a sustainable, healthier, and greener future for our city of Exeter.

About the artist

GARf the winning artist is recognised for having created a growing number of public art walls in Exmouth and the surrounding area. GARf has always been passionate about the environment and living sustainably. GARf believes life on earth is a delicate balance and we need to look after our planet in all that we do.

This event is organised by Dr Fatma Sabet and is funded by ESRC Festival of Social Sciences: https://festivalofsocialscience.com
