History: Originating in the Three Kingdoms period, it has a history of about 1,500 years
Structure: Made of bamboo, it has 1 blowing hole (chuigu), 6 finger holes (jigong), and 1 buzzing hole (cheonggong)
Characteristics: A reed membrane attached to the buzzing hole produces a unique vibrating sound that creates the daegeumβs distinctive timbre
Range: With its wide register from low to high notes, it is beloved across various genres from court music to folk music
π Performance Introduction
The Village Daegeum Club has prepared a small gift for our neighbors in celebration of Global Donut Days!
This performance is a short moment of sharing ahead of our first official concert at Neutinamu Library in November. Through the beautiful melodies of the daegeum, we hope to pause, breathe together, and share the warm heart of our community.
πΌ Program
Arirang (Korean traditional folk song)
Donut Song (Special performance for Global Donut Days)
Though it lasts only 15 minutes, letβs create special memories unique to our neighborhood through the deep and warm tones of the daegeum, enjoyed together with our neighbors both offline and online.
π€ Dear neighbors, you are always welcomeβwhether at the library or on Zoom! Every day we create together in our community is precious π€
