Overview and background
Bad Nauheim was the first city in Germany to start working with Doughnut Economics. They started working with Doughnut Economics in 2021, aiming to embed a holistic perspective in the decision-making processes of the city administration and associated subsidiary companies. To date, they have created an adapted Bad Nauheim Doughnut as a compass and a common sustainability vision, a Doughnut Screening tool alongside structural changes to decision making structures. They have held an 8-months long Future Workshop citizen co-creation process to develop measures through the lenses of the Doughnut; the majority measures that were subsequently prioritized by the local parliament have since been launched and in some cases completed . They’ve also developed an Integrated Climate Protection Plan, and an Integrated Climate Adaptation Plan. Bad Nauheim hosted the first in-person DEAL Cities&Regions gathering for local governments working with Doughnut Economics in 2024.
In the webinar we'll hear in-depth about their experience and insights from their work with Doughnut Economics over the past 5 years.
